Sean Whalen was born in Maryland and performed in school and community theater until he was 18 when he got accepted into the UCLA theater arts program as 1 of 18 kids in the nation. After graduating Sean studied at the famed Groundlings Theater where he perfected his comedy skills while performing with Lisa Kudrow in the Sunday Company. After a couple of years of consistent commercial work, Sean got his first movie role as Roach in WES CRAVEN’S PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS.
He went on to do the famous GOT MILK commercial (Aaron Burr). Steven Spielberg loved it and Sean got a role in TWISTER which changed his career. Sean’s appeared in movies such as NEVER BEEN KISSED, EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH, THAT THING YOU DO, ROB ZOMBIE’S HALLOWEEN 2 and 3 FROM HELL, IDLE HANDS, and many others. He has also appeared in TV shows such as LOST, FRIENDS, KENAN, SHAMELESS, NYPD BLUE, MY WIFE AND KIDS, CRIMINAL MINDS and several Soap Operas, Disney Channel, and Nickelodeon shows. He’s done every genre except a Western!
Sean is now breaking into new territory as a filmmaker with his directorial debut, CRUST. It’s a creature feature horror comedy that he co-wrote, is producing, and will be starring in. Shortly after CRUST, he teamed up with his wife to create their own production company MYSL. Since its inception, he has directed, starred in, and produced his second feature film, SWIPE, a horror- slasher. It features an all-star cast, including Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect) and Elaine Hendrix (The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday), among others.
MYSL also teamed up with Slight Entertainment to produce their first web series together, “Pysche on Sunset,” a story about a restaurant where all of the staff are trained therapists…. though maybe they shouldn’t be.
